Wild Horse and Burro event coming to Missoula Fairgrounds

(MISSOULA, Mont.) – Come find your very own, one of a kind wild horse or burro! The Bureau of Land Management Montana-Dakotas Billings Field Office is sponsoring a wild horse and burro event in Missoula
Montana. This event is the first of its kind in over six years in Montana. The Montana Wild Horse and Burro Event will be June 22-23, 2018 in the Rodeo Arena at the Missoula County Fairgrounds 1101 South Ave W, Missoula, Montana.
There will be 3-5 saddle-gentled horses, 15-20 halter-gentled horses, 50 untouched wild horses and 10 untouched wild burros featured at the event. Both adoption and sale options will be available to potential adopters or purchasers. Adoption or purchase applications can be sent to Jerrie Bertola at jbertola@blm.gov for pre-approval, or applications can be completed at the event. Adoption prices begin at $125 and sale eligible wild horse begin at $25. Weanlings will also be available for youth trainers.
Bring the family and preview the wild horses and burros beginning Friday, June 22 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on Saturday June 23, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Adoption begins at 11:00 am Saturday.
Untouched wild horses and burros will be offered through a silent competitive bid beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday June 23, and trained horses will be offered beginning at 11:30 am on Saturday June 23 through a verbal competitive bid.
There will also be demonstrations showcasing Montana’s TIP trainers and their wild horses beginning on Friday, June 22 at 1:00 pm.
The Missoula County Fairgrounds is under construction making improvements, but the event will be in the area and wild horses will be available for preview behind the rough stock chutes in the Rodeo Arena. Due to the construction, parking for passenger vehicles will be near the grand stands and entry will be from the grand stands.
