FARMINGTON, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management Farmington Field Office is seeking volunteers for its upcoming National Public Lands Day event on Sept. 22. In recognition of this annual observance, the BLM will be accomplishing some on-the-ground projects to enhance the flora and fauna of public land in northwest New Mexico.
In concert with other events around the country, the BLM is encouraging the public to join BLM staff in making a difference for public land resources they use and value. During this year’s event, participants will clean up areas affected by illegal dumping of tires, cans and household debris at the Glade Run Recreation Area.
Those interested in volunteering should meet at 9 a.m. on Sept. 22 in the parking lot of the BLM Farmington Field Office, located at 6251 N. College Blvd., Farmington, NM 87402.
Please wear a hat, long sleeves, good walking shoes, sunscreen and bug spray. The BLM will supply gloves, sunscreen, insect spray, bottled water, trash bags, five-gallon buckets, rakes and shovels.
To sign up and get directions for the event, please contact Tammy Faust at 505-564-7762 or tfaust@blm.gov.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people.
