CASPER, Wyo. – Step back in time this Sunday with live pioneer music and a Pony Express demonstration at the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center.
At 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. on July 24, “Buffalo Bill” Boycott will make an appearance at the Trails Center for two performances of “Along the Oregon Trail.” The program includes songs and stories of Oregon Trail travelers, as well as songs about Wyoming and the Wild West, world class yodeling, and cowboy poetry. Each performance will last approximately 45 minutes.
At 1 p.m., National Pony Express Association Wyoming division will share a brief history of the Pony Express Trail. Twenty years after the first emigrants used the pioneer trails across the continent, the Pony Express thundered along much of the same route. The Pony Express provided quick mail service between Missouri and California but was a brief enterprise that was soon replaced by the telegraph.
The schedule for Sunday, July 24 is as follows.
- 11 a.m. – “Along the Oregon Trail” performance
- 1 p.m. – Pony Express Special Presentation and delivery reenactment (near the Pony Express cabin outside the Trails Center)
- 2 p.m. – “Along the Oregon Trail” performance
