Trails Center hosts Native American History Weekend

CASPER, Wyo. – Visit the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center this Saturday and Sunday for an entire weekend devoted to Native American history.
Presentations and demonstrations focusing on basic survival skills, stone tool making, and atlatls will take place on June 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Trails Center also welcomes special guests Cleve Bell and Russel Zephier to share stories of Native American culture. Bell is a local Wyoming artist and retired art teacher at the Wyoming Indian High School in Ethete, Wyoming. Zephier, an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, is currently working with the Red Cloud Indian School in search of unmarked graves using ground-penetrating radar.
“There is sure to be something fun for the entire family with all the wonderful programs happening this weekend,” says Trails Center Visitor Information Specialist Jason Vlcan.
