Fort Stanton, N.M. – Starting July 5, and ending July 20, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roswell Field Office will be hosting the American Endurance Ride Conference’s Roger Taylor Memorial Trail Ride at the Rob Jaggers Campground near Fort Stanton, N.M. The ride will be based out of the campground, with participants coming in from various states to ride the trail systems across BLM lands. The American Endurance Ride Conference obtained a special recreation permit from the BLM for this event.
The public can expect to see heavier than normal presence of campers, trailers and tents within the campground, as well as vehicle and equestrian traffic on the surrounding roads and trails throughout the duration of the ride. The BLM will monitor the event and post signs where necessary to advise the public.
The BLM would like to remind the public that the campground is occupied on a first come, first served basis. During this event, the BLM recommends other camping areas within the Fort Stanton-Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area. These include the Cave Canyon Campground and other dispersed camping opportunities. Additionally, the Valley of Fires Recreation Area, the Carrizozo Land Access Area on the west side of the Valley of Fires, and the Three Rivers Petroglyph Site Campground will be open for recreational use. For more information about these and other BLM recreation areas, please visit www.blm.gov/visit.
For more information, the public can contact the BLM Roswell Field Office at 575-627-0272.
