The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Boise and Twin Falls districts are inviting the public to attend two public meetings in April to learn more and provide comments about the Draft Wilderness and Wild and Scenic River Management Plan (WMP).The first public meeting is scheduled for April 9 at the BLM Boise District Office at 3948 S. Development Ave. in Boise. Another meeting is scheduled for April 10 at the Owyhee County Historical Museum at 17085 Basey Street in Murphy. Both meetings will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and will be in an open house format. The Draft WMP addresses six Wilderness Areas and sixteen Wild and Scenic River (WSR) segments located in Owyhee County. Designated by the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, the Wilderness Areas comprise approximately 518,000 acres, and the WSR segments total approximately 325 miles.Due to their proximity, comparable natural and cultural resources, and similar management issues, the BLM completed one plan to address all six Wilderness Areas as well as the sixteen WSR segments that are located almost entirely within the Wilderness Areas. The Draft WMP is designed to guide the management of the wilderness areas and WSR segments for the next 10 years.Send electronic comments by May 31, 2013 to: OMA_TRANS_Wild@blm.gov. Written comments must be postmarked on or before that date. Address written comments to: John Sullivan, Wilderness Project Lead, Bureau of Land Management, Boise District Office, 3948 South Development Avenue, Boise, Idaho 83705.Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address or other personal identifying information in your comment, be advised that your entire comment, including your personal identifying information, may be made publicly available at any time.
