Public invited to attend meeting to learn about Mittry Lake North Shore Access Project

YUMA, Ariz.-The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD), in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), propose the Mittry Lake North Shore Access Project. Mittry Lake Wildlife Area is managed in partnership between the three agencies: AGFD, BLM, and Reclamation for the diverse wildlife species and their habitats, recreational opportunities, water management, and associated opportunities.


AGFD and BLM will conduct a multi-agency Open House to provide information about the Mittry Lake North Shore Access Project various components. The Open House is scheduled for Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the AGFD’s Region IV Office at 9140 East 28th Street, Yuma, AZ, 85365.


A preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared and posted for public comment on the BLM’s ePlanning website (https://go.usa.gov/xQ8xa) from May 1, 2018, through June 7, 2018. The preliminary EA details the AGFD’s proposed development and management of a
2.7-mile road loop, fire breaks, a paddle boat launch ramp, and restroom/trash facilities within the Mittry Lake Wildlife Area on the North Shore of Mittry Lake.
