Play and Learn at Winter Adventure Day

CASPER, Wyo. – Enjoy the benefits of outdoor play and learning in the snow with your family at “Winter Adventure Day” on Saturday, March 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Casper Mountain Outdoor Center at McMurry Mountain Park, located at 1110 East End Road on Casper Mountain.
The BLM, in partnership with the Casper Mountain Biathlon Club and local and regional participants, are offering winter activities geared for all ages. Place-based learning stations will inspire hands-on family learning about our local environment. Families can then play together in the snow with the options of cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, shooting, building shelters, snow art, or just digging in the snow.
“Parents often tell me they want to go play in the snow with their kids, but since they don’t know how to ski or snowshoe, they worry about the kids. We’ve created a safe environment for families to come try these winter sports and create lasting family memories,” says BLM Education Technician Stacey Moore. “We want everyone to feel included so we’re providing equipment, lessons, transportation, and activities for all ages. If your family is far away, bring a group of friends!”
Families with toddlers and infants can also join “Hike it Baby” participants for short hikes and to discuss winter safety with small children.
Participation is free, but equipment and lessons are limited to a first-come basis. Pre-registration is highly encouraged to reserve equipment times, lessons and bussing (if needed). Family prizes are available for participation in the event. Registration is open at: tiny.cc/biathlon.
