LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz.--The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office will temporarily restrict public access to “Partner’s Point” in order to ensure safety during construction associated with the Havasu Riviera project.

Planned construction near Partner’s Point includes development of the City’s Havasu Riviera project, the Havasu Riviera Arizona State Park, and the Havasu Riviera Resort Community. These projects are part of a 550-acre economic development initiative located south of Lake Havasu City. Project proponents requested that the BLM temporarily limit access to Partner’s Point in order to ensure safety around the work zone during the initial phases of heavy construction.

Partner’s Point is a popular drop-off spot where community partners deliver brush to be utilized as fisheries habitat. All brush delivery will be paused during this restriction.

Restricted areas will include the dirt road from the Lake Havasu City public works site at the north terminus of Sweetwater Avenue near the intersection of South Acoma Avenue and Highway 95.

Major construction is scheduled to begin soon and last through Oct. 31, 2018, at which time the restriction will be lifted. Requests for access during this time will require advance notification made through the BLM’s Lake Havasu Field Office at 928-505-1200. They will then coordinate the request through the project proponents, and the contractors on site.

The restriction was coordinated through the Fisheries Steering Committee Partnership, comprised of the following organizations and agencies:

  • United State Bureau of Land Management,
  • United States Fish & Wildlife Service,
  • United States Geological Survey,
  • State of Arizona Game and Fish Commission,
  • Arizona State Parks and Trails,
  • California Department of Fish and Wildlife,
  • Anglers United, and
  • Lake Havasu Marine Association
