LAS CRUCES, N.M. - On Nov. 14, the Bureau of Land Management Las Cruces District will host an open house on a right-of-way application submitted by Garfield Mutual Domestic Water Consumers and Mutual Sewer Works Association. The open house will provide information on the proposed development of new water facilities on public land in Sierra County. The open house will be held at the Garfield MDWC & MSWA office located at 8580 US Highway 885 in Garfield, NM from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
In its plan of development, the Garfield MDWC & MSWA is proposing a new water well, water storage tank and water distribution line to improve water quality and flow within their defined service area. Because the proposed ROW is on public land, the BLM will prepare an environmental assessment to analyze the potential effects from the construction, maintenance, operation and termination of the proposed water facilities and associated infrastructure to be located northwest of the community of Arrey, NM.
People unable to attend the open house can access the project information and location maps online at https://eplanning.blm.gov by selecting project # DOI-BLM-NM-L000-2017-0091-EA (All CAPS).
From now until December 14, the BLM will be accepting public comments on the proposed project through one of the following methods:
- Electronically by sending comments to: BLM_NM_LCDO_Comments@blm.gov. Include “Garfield MDWC & MSWA Arrey Water Facilities” in the subject line of your email; or by
- Mailing comments to: BLM Las Cruces District Office, ATTN: Garfield MDWC & MSWA Arrey Water Facilities, 1800 Marquess Street, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
