Springfield, Ore. – Improvements along sections of the Row River Trail managed by the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Northwest Oregon District are expected to continue through June of 2019, and will include temporary, partial closures of the trail on week days. The entire walking and biking trail will be open on weekends. This project is a great example of the BLM’s commitment to serving the American family by being good neighbors and providing access to recreational opportunities.

The project, located approximately 3 miles east of Cottage Grove, Oregon, in Lane County, includes repaving and crack sealing sections of the trail. Six culverts have also been replaced. The work was originally scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2018, but weather and other factors have prolonged the needed work.

“We are looking forward to investing in the community by improving the trail with new culverts and paving, and appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction,” said Becca Brooke, Upper Willamette Field Office Manager.

A continued temporary closure of the trail is required for public safety, and will prohibit all unauthorized visitors from riding, walking, hiking, or bicycling the trail within closure areas. The temporary, or rolling trail closures of two to five days on Mondays through Fridays each week, will occur from the Row River Road Crossing at MP 4.37 to MP 11.5 east of Smith Creek Bridge. Signage notifying users of the temporary closures will be posted at trail access points.
