The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have released two new maps for the 2013 recreation season. An updated Owyhee Canyon Country map for southeastern Oregon and a new map for the Oregon Central Coast, which is also the official visitor map of the Siuslaw National Forest, are now available. These all-weather maps are part of the Pacific Northwest Recreation Map Series, an innovative, cooperative effort between agencies to leverage skills and resources to save production costs and provide the public full coverage of the agencies' lands and resources with fewer maps. The maps are available at all BLM offices and selected U.S. Forest Service offices in Oregon and Washington. They can also be found online for purchase at blm.gov/or/onlineservices/maps, discovernw.org (click on “Store"), or by contacting the BLM at (503) 808-6008.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
