ANCHORAGE – On June 6, 2015, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites trail lovers of all ages to Campbell Tract to celebrate trails and make the tract safer in the event of wildfire.

BLM and volunteer trail crews will remove brush and new growth from a shaded fuel break along the southeast boundary of Campbell Tract near popular recreation trails.  BLM created the fuel break in 2001 to help protect Far North Bicentennial Park and nearby subdivisions should wildfire occur on the 730-acre Campbell Tract

Volunteers will also spruce up the gardens and grounds of the BLM Campbell Creek Science Center.  All tools provided.  Wear sturdy waterproof footwear and work gloves.  Register at 8:30 a.m. at the Science Center; work projects start at 9 a.m.  After a morning of outdoor work, volunteers will gather at the Science Center for free pizza and tips about the Municipality’s Firewise and Trail Watch programs.

For additional information, contact the BLM Campbell Creek Science Center at 267-1241 or visit www.blm.gov/ak/sciencecenter.
