More than 1,700 students to attend Outdoor Week

ANCHORAGE – The BLM Campbell Creek Science Center and the Anchorage School District have teamed up to host Outdoor Week,the single largest event of the year at the Science Center. This year marks the 42nd anniversary of this hugely successful outdoor education event. Anchorage area sixth-grade students will learn about the natural world through hands-on learning activities. Instructors from state, federal, and community organizations will guide students through a series of learning stations that feature:
- gold panning
- bear awareness
- fly tying and fly casting
- water flow
- Alaskan animal adaptations
- Insects, weather, and more!
Outdoor Week is May 10-13, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day. The entrance to the BLM Campbell Tract is located at 68th Avenue & Elmore Road and the Campbell Creek Science Center is located at 5600 Science Center Drive. For more information, contact Project Lead Eric Stuart at 267-1241.
