Monument announces winter, holiday hours for visitor centers

KANAB, Utah The Bureau of Land Management’s Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument will transition to a winter schedule for the monument’s visitor centers beginning Saturday, Nov. 20. Winter hour operations will commence as follows:

  • The Escalante Interagency Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, beginning Nov. 20, 2021, through March 1, 2022, and will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
  • The Kanab Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, beginning Nov. 20, 2021, through March 1, 2022, and will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
  • The Big Water Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday through Monday, beginning Nov. 20, 2021, through March 1, 2022, and will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • The Cannonville Visitor Center will remain closed until March 1, 2022.
  • The Paria Contact Station, which serves as a permit pickup location for the Paria Canyon Overnight permits and provides visitor information on the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, closed today and remains seasonally closed until resuming a 7-day schedule in the spring. During winter hours, Paria Canyon Overnight permits may be picked up at the Kanab Field Office, 669 S. Hwy 89A, Kanab, UT 84741. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MST. This will change will begin Nov. 16 through mid-March.

The BLM will also be adjusting hours for the holidays. All visitor centers will be closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 25, 2021, as well as Jan. 1, 2022, in observance of the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.
