Mojave Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council meets August 14 & 15 in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — The Bureau of Land Management’s Mojave Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council will consider a wide range of topics, including an orientation, District overviews, proposed feedback areas, election of officers and setting next meeting dates when it meets the afternoon of Wednesday, August 14 and morning of Thursday, August 15 in Las Vegas. 

“We look forward to convening the Mojave Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council again,” said Southern Nevada District Office Manager Theresa Coleman. “By getting involved in these efforts, the public can help shape the future management of our public lands.”

The meeting is open to the public. Information on the meeting agenda and a virtual option for attending the meeting will be provided at least two weeks ahead of the meeting date on the BLM Nevada RAC website at https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-me/nevada.  Meeting participants who wish to attend virtually via Zoom must register in advance. Upon registering, participants will receive an email, including the meeting link and dial-in numbers.

On Wednesday, August 14, council members will convene at 1 p.m. at the BLM Southern Nevada District Office at 4701 N Torrey Pines, Las Vegas, NV  89130. Topics for the day will include an orientation and District overviews. The meeting will adjourn at 5 p.m. 

On Thursday, August 15, the council meeting will convene at 9 a.m. at the BLM Southern Nevada District Office at 4701 N Torrey Pines, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Topics for the day will include proposed feedback areas, election of officers, setting upcoming meeting dates and public comment at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will adjourn at 1 p.m.

The 15-member council advises the Secretary of the Interior, through the BLM, on a variety of planning and management issues associated with BLM public lands in the Battle Mountain, Ely and Southern Nevada District.

The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
