(MISSOULA, Mont.) – Due to the government shutdown, a meeting to discuss the Missoula Bureau of Land Management’s proposed Resource Management Plan has been postponed until further notice.
The open house to discuss preliminary alternatives for the revision of the RMP had been scheduled for Jan. 24 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lubrecht Forest-Castles Forestry Center in Greenough, Mont.
While the meeting has been postponed, the public can still review documents and maps discussing the preliminary alternatives at the BLM’s ePlanning website: http://1.usa.gov/21RNCPG
The Missoula Field Office is undertaking one of its biggest projects in recent years: overhauling its RMP—the document that guides its management of 162,000 acres of public lands and 268,000 acres of federal mineral interests. Since early 2017, the BLM has held several open houses in the Missoula area in order to identify issues and concerns within the planning area, which includes BLM-administered public lands and federal mineral estate in Flathead, Granite, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula, Powell, Ravalli, and Sanders counties.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
