As of 6 a.m. Saturday, July 14 the west portion of the Martin fire transitioned from a type 2 to a type 3 organization. As of today the burned acreage is 435,569 with 95 percent containment. There has been minimal activity beyond isolated smoldering within interior unburned “islands”. High temperatures, low humidity and variable breezy winds continue across the area of the fire. Fuels remain at a critical level with low live fuel moisture and high fine fuel loadings.

Firefighters continue to patrol and monitor the fire, as well as conduct repairs on dozer lines and roads impacted by fire suppression activities. An Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) will fly on the west part of the fire in the coming days to provide data to be used in rehabilitation planning. Although a structure identified as a carport was burned in a remote area in the interior of the fire the residence next to the car port did not burn because it had good defensible space.
