CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Nominations to the BLM Wyoming Resource Advisory Council (RAC) are due by June 14. All Wyoming citizens are encouraged to apply, who may qualify in up to three categories. The diverse input of the council members helps inform BLM Wyoming in developing management strategies.

The BLM Wyoming RAC is composed of citizens chosen for their interest or expertise in three categories of membership:

  • Category One – Representatives of organizations associated with energy/mineral development; federal grazing permit holders; the timber industry; transportation or rights-of-way; off-highway vehicles users; and commercial and developed outdoor recreation.
  • Category Two – Representatives of archeological and historic organizations; dispersed recreation users; wild horse and burros organizations; and nationally or regionally-recognized environmental organizations.
  • Category Three – Representatives of state, county, or local elected office; Indian tribes located within or adjacent to the area for which the RAC is organized; academicians employed in natural resource management or natural sciences; employees of a state agency responsible for management of natural resources; and the public at large.

Council members participate in meetings with BLM leadership around the state. Meetings include round-table discussions and opportunities for public comment, and often involve tours of projects or facilities related to BLM-administered public lands. The input of council members assists BLM Wyoming in developing management strategies.

The Wyoming RAC is currently accepting nominations for vacancies in the following categories:

  • Category One – 1 vacancy
  • Category Two – 3 vacancies
  • Category Three – 3 vacancies
