LAS VEGAS -- The Bureau of Land Management conducted a competitive online sale yesterday through the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, offering 10 parcels of public lands totaling 76.85 acres in the Las Vegas Valley. The total fair market value of the parcels offered for sale was $32,635,000. The eight parcels sold totaled 41.85 acres and generated $16,575,000, bringing in $1,240,000 over fair market value for the sold parcels.

The Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act allows the BLM to sell public lands within a congressionally designated boundary in the Las Vegas Valley. In accordance with the act, 85% of the funds generated by this sale will go to projects throughout Nevada, such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land, hazardous fuels reduction, and landscape restoration projects. Additionally, 5% of the revenue will go to the State of Nevada for education and 10% will go to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

Parcels made available for sale are determined through a joint selection process. To initiate the sale of a parcel within the boundary, an interested party must first identify the parcel(s) and present the request to the local government where the land is located. If the local jurisdiction agrees to the sale, the local government submits a nomination to the BLM for verification that the parcel is eligible for sale. To date, all parcels proposed for sale by local governments have been offered or are in the process of being offered for sale.

This online sale offered parcels located through the Las Vegas Valley that ranged from 2.5 to 25 acres in size. Successful bidders must pay 20% of the bid by 4 p.m. Pacific today. The remainder is due within 180 days on or before Sept. 15, 2025. Unsold parcels may be re-offered at future auctions.
