Halter-Gentled Mustangs, Wild Horses, and Burros Available for Adoption in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Thirty wild horses, two of them halter gentled, and 10 burros will be offered for adoption Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds Chris Beck Arena, 1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa.

Adoption event gates open at 8 a.m. each day. Silent bidding for the horses and burros runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with bids starting at $125. Horses and burros not adopted during silent bidding will be available for a $125 adoption fee for the remainder of the event.

Anyone interested can preview available animals from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 10.

Horses and burros up for adoption are from public land ranges in northeast California and Nevada. They were removed from the range as part of the BLM's work to manage wild populations at sustainable levels.
