(DILLON, Mont.) – The Bureau of Land Management’s Dillon Field Office is reviewing a plan of operations to conduct mining exploration work in Beaverhead County.

The plan of operations was filed with the BLM for exploration in the southwest Ruby Mountains. The plan includes BLM lands that are part of the Dillon Field Office, as well as private lands where the BLM manages the mineral estate.

“The Dillon Field Office is actively engaged in supporting working landscapes through our many programs including mining exploration,” said acting Dillon Field Manager Keith Johnson.

The exploration activities include geologic mapping, rock sampling to include cores sampled with a backpack drill, and geophysical surveys. The proposed activities would take place during spring, summer and fall of 2018 and 2019.

The BLM’s Environmental Assessment will be posted online at the agency’s ePlanning website (bit.ly/2uJQUvJ). The BLM welcomes and values diverse views from the public and will take public comment on the plan of operations until Nov. 30.
