SANTA FE, N.M. – The 63-acre Camel Tracks Fire on the Caja del Rio has been contained. It is currently under investigation by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Although fully contained, there are still hot spots burning within the fire perimeter, so residents may still see smoke.

The BLM would like to caution the community to avoid the area while crews are on site, and remind that although temporary fire restrictions in the area were lifted on Aug. 18, there are still statewide restrictions on the use of exploding targets and fireworks year-round on BLM lands.

To report a wildland fire, contact Santa Fe County at (505) 428-3720.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
