VERNAL, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office staff seek public input on an environmental assessment to improve amenities to help balance visitor use and protection of resources at the Doc’s Beach and Cliff Ridge recreation areas located within the Uinta Basin. These BLM-managed recreation sites are popular with locals and visitors and offer a variety of opportunities for hiking, biking, off-highway vehicles and camping.
The BLM will host an informational open house at the Uintah Conference Center, 313 East 200 South, Vernal, Utah on May 19, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on proposed recreation enhancements that could include trails, parking areas, restrooms, campsites and campsite fire pits.
“We look forward to receiving public input that will help us with this process,” stated BLM Vernal Field Manager Roger Bankert. “Our goal is to provide quality recreation experiences to the local community and the visiting public, while conserving and protecting the historical, cultural and natural qualities of the land.”
Doc’s Beach offers a wide variety of terrain that ranges from sandy washes to slickrock that allow visitors to ride horses, hike or ride their favorite motorized vehicle. The plateau at Cliff Ridge will reward recreation enthusiasts with spectacular views of the deep canyons formed along the Green River.
The public is invited to comment on the suggested enhancements, written comments may be mailed, emailed or submitted through ePlanning through June 6, 2022. To find more information and to submit your comments for both projects, visit the BLM ePlanning site at:
