Bureau of Land Management seeks Public Comment on a Proposal to Lease Land to Clark County School District for a Middle School

LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comment on a proposal to lease 30 acres of public land to the Clark County School District for development of a middle school and related facilities.  The parcel is located along portions of Erie Avenue, Levi Avenue, and Montessouri Street in the southwest portion of the Las Vegas Valley. 

The proposed middle school will consist of a range of buildings and amenities, including classrooms, a fine arts and technology center, as well as areas for basketball courts, ball fields, and other outdoor recreation activities.

“The BLM is pleased to have a role in the development of educational facilities that will help the local community grow,” said Shonna Dooman, Las Vegas Field Manager. “The action will help Clark County School District increase educational opportunities for residents.”

The Notice of Realty Action for the proposed Recreation and Public Purposes (R&PP) Act Classification published today in the Federal Register.  The 45-day public comment period will today and end September 9, 2019.  Written comments about the proposed R&PP lease (serialized N-96476) should be mailed to: Las Vegas Field Office, Assistant Field Manager, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130 or faxed to 702-515-5010.
