Bureau of Land Management Closes Public Lands Within Tyee Ridge Complex Fires

Roseburg, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is closing public lands within the Tyee Ridge Complex Fires, located in the Tyee/Umpqua/Hubbard Creek area northwest of Roseburg. This emergency closure order is for the safety of the public and firefighter personnel.
This Order is effective at 12:01 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) on September 1, 2023, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Members of the public may not enter closed areas, and all uses—including hiking, hunting, and camping—are prohibited.
Affected Area: All BLM administered-public lands within the area as described below, west of the Umpqua River:
T.25 S., R.07 W., sections 6, 7, 9, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30 31, 32, 33, 34.
T.25 S., R.08 W., sections 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 23, 24, 25.
T.26 S., R.07 W., sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
T.26 S., R.08 W., section 1, 12, 13.
This includes closure of the following BLM controlled roads:
Little Wolf Rd - 24-8-36.0
Briarwood Rd – 25-7-21.0
Long Ranch Rd – 26-7-11.0
Bear Creek Rd – 26-8-1.0
“This closure order is necessary to protect the public from risks associated with active fire suppression and repair,” said Mike Korn, Swiftwater Field Manager. “The BLM continues to work closely with Douglas Forest Protective Association, the Oregon Department of Forestry Team 1, and the Oregon State Fire Marshals Red Team on public safety on the Tyee Ridge Complex.”
The BLM protects persons, property, and public lands and resources by temporarily closing or restricting uses on designated public lands pursuant to 43 CFR 9212.2, 43 CFR 8364.1 and 43 CFR 9268.3(d).

With expected continued precipitation, there is a decrease in fire danger potential. This closure will remain in place during active fire suppression and fire repair activities, and we ask that the closure be respected for the safety of fire fighters and the public.
