MONTROSE, Colorado. – The Bureau of Land Management Uncompahgre Field Office is seeking public comments on 26 Special Recreation Permit applications including five new applications and 21 applications for renewals.

SRPs are issued to provide recreation businesses the opportunity to operate on BLM public lands, provide the public the opportunity to use a guided service for recreation activities, implement recreation management decisions and ensure a fair return to the public for commercial use of public lands. 

The new SRP applicants are:

• Biggerstaff Guides & Outfitters (Randi & Steve Biggerstaff) - guided bighorn sheep hunting Game Management Unit S62 within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Garvey Brothers Outfitters (Dustin Garvey) - guided big game, mountain lion and turkey hunting in GMU 60, 61, 62 and 70E within the Uncompahgre Field Office, excluding Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area.
• Travis Kruckenberg Outfitting (Travis Kruckenberg) - guided mountain lion hunting in all GMUs within the Uncompahgre Field Office, excluding Dominguez Escalante National Conservation Areas.
• Virtus Tactical & Defensive Training, LLC (Robert Ballard) - firearms training along Landfill Road within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Western Slope SUP, LLC (Daniel Roman) - guided stand up paddle board trips in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area from Forks to Austin.

The SRP renewal applicants include:

• Centennial Canoe (Marty Genereux) - canoeing on the Gunnison River from Forks to Delta.
• Colorado Backcountry (Ben & Jane Pritchett) - guided mountain bike rides within the Uncompahgre Field Office.  
• Colvig Silver Camps (Tyler Dixon) - rafting in Dominguez Canyon & rock climbing in Paradox Canyon.
• Dvorak’s Kayak and Rafting Expeditions (Bill Dvorak) - fishing and rafting on the San Miguel and Dolores rivers and in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area.
• Echo Canyon (Andy Neinas) - guided float and fishing trips on the San Miguel River.
• Further Adventures (George Gleason) - guided rafting and stand up paddle boarding on the San Miguel River.
• Gateway Canyon Resorts (Zebulon Miracle) - guided hiking and driving educational and adventure tours in Roc Creek, Hanging Flume, La Sal Creek, Paradox Valley and Wild Steer Canyon within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Gunsmoke Outfitters (Jimmy McNamara) - guided mountain lion hunting in GMU 411, 52, 521, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 70E within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Jackson Outfitters (Roy Jackson) - big game and turkey hunting in all GMUs within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Little Cone Outfitter (Roy Hutt) - big game hunting in GMU 70E.
• Mark Davies Guide Service (Mark Davies) - lion hunting in GMU 60, 61, 62, 411, 52, and 521 within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Mild to Wild (Alex Mickel) - guided raft and float trips on the San Miguel and Dolores rivers.
• Mountain Trip (Todd Rutledge) - rock climbing within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Mountaineer Outfitters (Gregory & Cassie Moats) - lion hunting in GMU 60, 61, 62, 64, 65 and 70 within the Uncompahgre Field Office. 
• San Miguel Anglers (Will Sands) - guided fly fishing trips on the San Miguel River and Big Bear Creek within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Scenic River Tours (Ches Russell) - guided rafting, kayaking, float fishing and walk/wade fishing on the San Miguel River from Deep Creek to Piñon Bridge Access.
• Telluride Academy (Luke Brown) - climbing in the Paradox Valley along Carpenter’s Ridges and guided mountain biking on the Ridgway Area Trails within the Uncompahgre Field Office. 
• Telluride Flyfishers, Inc. (Lindsay Maloney) - rafting and walk/wade fly fishing on the San Miguel River.
• Telluride Kayak School (Matt Wilson) - guided rafting and kayaking on the San Miguel River from Roc Creek to the confluence with the Dolores River and the Dolores River from Bedrock to State Line.
• Timber to Table (Adam Gall) - big game hunting in GMU 52 and 521 within the Uncompahgre Field Office.
• Weimer Hunting Camp (Jody Weimer) - big game and lion hunting in GMU 61, 62 and 70E within the Uncompahgre Field Office.

Details about SRP applications are available for review in the Montrose Public Lands Center located at 2505 S. Townsend Avenue in Montrose. The BLM requires SRPs for commercial activities as well as for competitive and organized group activities or events on BLM public lands.

The BLM is soliciting comments on issues such as resource concerns, compliance history, health and safety, conflicts and diversity of services. These comments will help the BLM determine whether the proposed SRPs support the BLM’s objectives in recreation management and resource protection.
