BLM Southwest District Resource Advisory Council to meet in September

Gunnison, Colo.The Bureau of Land Management’s Southwest District Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will host a field tour on September 7th commencing at 8:00 a.m. at the Gunnison Field Office, 210 W. Spencer Ave., Gunnison, CO 81230. Attendees will travel to the Alpine Loop and return to the field office at 4:30 p.m. Members of the public are welcome on field tours but must provide their own high clearance transportation and meals. The RAC will hold an in-person meeting with a virtual option on September 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public, and the agenda information will be posted 30 days in advance on the RAC’s webpage at https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-you/colorado/southwest-rac.

A public comment period is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on September 8th and planned agenda items include an overview of the big game resource management plan amendment, a discussion on sheep grazing permits, and reviewing a draft business plan for proposed recreation fee adjustments. Individuals who want to make a statement during the public comment period are encouraged to also submit a written copy of their statement at the meeting for the administrative record. The three 15-member Resource Advisory Councils in Colorado are forums for providing advice and recommendations to the BLM on various resource and land management issues. The Southwest Resource Advisory Council advises the BLM Colorado Southwest District which includes the Gunnison, Uncompahgre, and Tres Rios field offices, Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Gunnison Gorge, and Dominguez Escalante National Conservation Areas.
