ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tuscarora Field Office has issued a Decision Record (DR) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Environmental Assessment (EA) of Newmont Mining Corporation’s Emigrant Mine Plan of Operations Amendment and Rain Mine Closure Seepage Management Revision. The decision is to select the Proposed Action with the financial guarantee requirements.

The EA analyzed Newmont’s proposal to amend the existing Mine Plan of Operations which will involve the construction of an acid rock generation solution pipeline and a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to treat the effluent which will be used as make-up water for use on the Emigrant Heap Leach Facility. The Emigrant mine is located in Elko County, Nevada. The EA included coordination with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and other interested parties and stakeholders.

The EA was made available for a 30 day public comment period ending on January 20, 2019. The comments received from cooperating agencies and the public were evaluated and considered by the BLM during the decision making process.

The DR, EA, FONSI and associated documents are available online at https://go.usa.gov/xECrk.
