CARSON CITY, NEV. – The Bureau of Land Management will hold a meeting of the Sierra Front-Northern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) on July 15 and 16. The meeting will be held at the BLM’s Winnemucca District Office at 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd., in Winnemucca, Nevada. Due to health concerns, the meeting will be via Zoom, or in person if conditions allow at the time of meeting. The public is welcomed to attend the meeting, or participate virtually via Zoom video conferencing, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST on July 15, and from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on July 16.
Planned agenda items include records requirements for RACs, wild horse and burro updates, District Managers’ reports, wildfire update, emergency stabilization and rehabilitation, recreation, Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, endangered species, land conveyances, grazing, and mining/energy.
“The Resource Advisory Council provides the agency with valuable partnerships, representing multiple interests, assisting the agency by collaborating to manage public lands more effectively,” stated Winnemucca District Manager, Ester McCullough. “The BLM looks forward to engaging with the Resource Advisory Council, as well as members of the public, for our upcoming meeting.”
The agenda and Zoom information will be available at https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-me/nevada two weeks prior to the meeting.
A public comment period, in which the public may address the RAC, will be held each day. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited, and if needed the public comment session could be extended.
RACs are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve. The RAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues within the BLM Carson City, Winnemucca, and Elko Nevada District Offices. RAC members are citizens who represent varied public land interests.
