Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon/Washington State Director Jerry Perez announced the selection of Patricia Burke as the new the Coos Bay District Manager.“Patricia comes to the BLM with a wealth of experience in natural resources management. Her interest in collaborative approaches to decision-making and excitement about working in a complex environment to accomplish important, on-the-ground work will be a great asset to the Coos Bay District's employees, partners, and communities," said State Director Jerry Perez.Patricia will assume her new duties in late August. Ralph Thomas is the Acting District Manager until Burke's report date.The Coos Bay District Manager serves as the line manager and advises the State Director on policies and programs pertinent to the Coos Bay District as they relate to the management of natural resources on public lands. Since 2008, Patricia Burke has been the West Coast Monitoring Program Manager for the National Marine Fisheries Service in Newport, Oregon. In addition, she has experience with the State of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife; the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Indians in Onamia, Minnesota; and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources where she was Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Patricia graduated from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, with a degree in Biology and earned her Master of Science and Doctorate degrees from the University of New Hampshire.More information about the BLM's Coos Bay District and its programs is available online at: blm.gov/or/districts/coosbay/index.php
