Moab, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Moab Field Office is seeking public input on a proposal from Grand County for a water load out facility adjacent to State Route 279 (Potash Road) on the north side of the Colorado River. The proposed facility would be located at Mile Marker 13.7 (approximately 1.5 miles south of U. S. Highway 191). The facility would serve multiple user groups that currently extract water from the Moab City culinary water facility or from an existing load out facility located at the Moab boat ramp.
Following the public scoping period which ends on December 4, 2015, the BLM will prepare an environmental assessment (EA) to analyze potential impacts associated with the project. The public is encouraged to provide comments to help the BLM identify relevant issues that will influence the scope of the analysis and guide the development process for the EA.
The project information and map can be accessed, and comments submitted electronically, using the BLM ePlanning website:
https://www.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/nepa/nepa_register.do
Navigate to the website identified above and click on "text search," then "advanced search," and enter “Water Load Out Facility” in the “Project Name” field. Open the project webpage (located at the bottom of the page) and click on “Documents.” Select the “Comment on Document” button to provide a comment.
Written comments will be accepted throughout the public scoping period, which closes on December 4, 2015. Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM planning process. Written comments may be mailed to the following address:
