CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, Stillwater Field Office, will be preparing an environmental assessment (EA) to analyze the direct, indirect and cumulative effects from issuing a new term livestock grazing permit for the Pilot Table Mountain Allotment (PTMA), located in Mineral County, Nevada. The EA will be prepared to meet the BLM’s obligations under the National Environmental Policy Act. Public comments will be accepted through October 15, 2018.
The current permit for the PTMA is 900 cattle for 4,468 Animal Month Units (AUMs) from November 1 to March 31, and 150 cattle for 1,055 AUMs from April 1 to October 31, each year. The EA will analyze a No Grazing Alternative, No Action Alternative (Current Management), a Permittee Alternative, and potentially two to three other alternatives. Under the potential alternatives, the BLM may consider changes to season of use, number of AUMs, and pasture rotation. Other considerations would include spring improvements, and Pinyon-Juniper removal.
