BLM seeks public input for Bell Mountain Exploration Corporation EA

CARSON CITY, NEV. The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District, Stillwater Field Office has completed a Preliminary Environmental Assessment (PEA) for Bell Mountain Exploration Corporation’s (BMEC) “Bell Mountain Mine Project”. The BLM is seeking public comment on this PEA and input on this PEA under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. This includes seeking information and identifying historic properties in or near the project area. Public comments will be accepted through March 1, 2020.
The proposed Bell Mountain Mine would consist of open pit mining and heap leach processing located in Churchill County, Nevada, approximately 40 miles southeast of Fallon, Nevada, and would mine for gold and silver. In addition, to accommodate the Proposed Action, one new right-of-way for a water conveyance pipeline and use of the existing Earthquake Fault Road would require authorization. The Proposed Action would encompass approximately 180 acres of new disturbance on BLM-administered lands.
