MEEKER, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management seeks public comments on an environmental assessment of a proposal to expand the White Creek Trailhead along Rio Blanco County Road 10.

The White Creek Trail is a popular hiking and horseback trail, particularly during hunting seasons. Currently vehicles must park along County Road 10, which creates congestion and public safety issues.

The majority of the trail is on White River National Forest lands, but the beginning of the trail crosses a 40-acre parcel of BLM land. The Forest Service has applied to the BLM for a right-of-way to expand the parking area pull-out on the west side of the road to accommodate off-road parking for five to eight truck and trailer vehicles.

The environmental assessment and maps are available at https://go.usa.gov/xPAA2
