Carson City, Nev –Avantus Clean Energy, LLC will be hosting two virtual public meetings to discuss their proposed Parker Butte solar generation and energy storage project on Tues., Jan. 9, 2024, and Thurs. Jan.,11, 2024. This project would be located in Lyon County approximately 14 miles northeast of Yerington, NV.

A subsidiary of Avantus Clean Energy, LLC, doing business as 339CH 8me, LLC, has applied to BLM for a 30-year right-of-way grant. Construction is anticipated to last 12 to 24 months and will encompass approximately 1,765 acres of public lands. The project proposes 550-megawatt alternating current solar photovoltaic generation and energy storage project with a 345kV generation interconnection transmission line that would connect to the Ft. Churchill Substation located south of the project area.

“Informing the public and seeking comments during the variance process for solar energy development is important as we continue to evaluate the proposed project,” said Kim Dow, Carson City District Manager. “The type of comments that would be most helpful during the public comment period include potential local concerns and/or opportunities prior to the proposed solar energy project being considered for NEPA.”

The purpose of this stakeholder meeting is to provide information on the proposed project and to solicit stakeholder and public input for variance approval as required by the Solar Energy Development Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement Record of Decision found at https://solareis.anl.gov/.

The BLM considers applications for solar energy development in variance areas on a case-by-case basis through the variance process prior to initiating NEPA. Topics will include an overview of the variance process, project, discussion of size, capacity, structures, timeline, and environmental concerns that are known at this time.
