MEEKER, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to develop a comprehensive non-motorized trail network near Meeker.

The proposed project outlines two alternative trail systems in the China Wall area to provide recreation opportunities for hikers, runners, mountain bikers and other non-motorized trail users. The alternatives provide a range from 17 to 22 miles of trails.  Public input will provide BLM planners with information helpful in selecting the alternative that best meets public needs.

New trail construction is planned for the summer of 2015. Maps of the proposed trail networks can be found online athttp://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/fo/wrfo.html.

The BLM will host a public meeting regarding this proposal on Sept. 18 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the White River Field Office in Meeker.  Comments regarding this proposal can be mailed to Aaron Grimes, White River Field Office, 220 E. Market St., Meeker, CO 81641 or submitted via email to agrimes@blm.gov. Comments would be most helpful if received by Oct. 7, 2014.
