BLM Seeks Public Comment to Lease Land to Clark County for a Park

LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comment on a proposal to revise a Recreation and Public Purposes Act (R&PP) lease by changing the use of five acres of the R&PP lease from a tree farm to a public park. The park is located on the corner of Flamingo Road and Buffalo Drive in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The park area will consist of a general park area with related facilities including parking lots, walkways, lighting, landscaping, drainage, irrigation, restrooms and park amenities.  Public comments will be accepted until October 3, 2014.

The Notice of Realty Action for a proposed change of use of five acres of an R&PP lease was published in the Federal Register on August 19, 2014. Interested parties may submit comments regarding the proposed change of use and whether the BLM followed proper administrative procedures in reaching the decision for the change of use under the R&PP Act, or any other factor not directly related to the suitability of the land for R&PP use.
