WINNEMUCCA, NV - The Bureau of Land Management Winnemucca District Office is seeking public comment on a proposal for a patent to transfer the Unionville Cemetery from Federal to County ownership.  If the proposal is approved, Pershing County will be able to continue using the historic cemetery for family members closely related to those already buried there and will be able to create a new addition for other new burials.

Secretarial Order 3373 (SO 3373), “Evaluating Public Access in BLM Land Disposals and Exchanges,” was one of the very first orders Secretary David Bernhardt signed. This proposal follows the guidelines of SO 3373, which directs BLM to adequately weigh public access for outdoor recreation – including hunting and fishing – when determining the appropriateness of the disposal or exchange of public lands. The issuance of this land patent does not affect public access to outdoor recreational opportunities on public land.

The Notice of Realty Action for the patent published in the Federal Register on Nov 6, 2019 and has a comment period of 45 days. The notice is available at https://go.usa.gov/xpb8H.  You may submit comments regarding the proposal to patent 10 acres of public land in Pershing County and whether the land is physically suitable for the proposal, or if it is consistent with state and Federal programs.

Before including your address, phone number, email, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment – including your personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time.  While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.

Submit written comments by mail to the BLM Winnemucca District Office, Field Manager, Humboldt River Field Office, 5100 E. Winnemucca Blvd, Winnemucca, NV  89445, or fax to 775-623-1740,  Attn: David Kampwerth. Comments submitted by telephone or email will not be considered.
