MOAB, Utah—The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Moab Field Office is seeking input on an Environmental Assessment (EA) analyzing potential impacts of renewing a ten year grazing permit for the Monument Wash allotment. This grazing allotment covers about 79,289 acres, and is located about 24 air miles northeast of Moab in the Cisco Desert area. The allotment contains small portions of intermingled private lands and trust lands administered by State of Utah Trust Lands Administration. Both cattle and sheep have historically grazed in this area, but the allotment is currently authorized for cattle.
The EA analyzes three alternatives to help frame and disclose potential impacts of the proposal and address issues identified during scoping. The proposed action includes changes to the terms and conditions of the permit, including a grazing rotation schedule with spring rest periods intended to maintain and improve rangeland health.
The EA and map are available on the ePlanning website at: http://go.usa.gov/chHhB
