PHOENIX – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on a draft environmental assessment for a gold mine proposed on about 195 public acres in the Rogers Wash area near Wickenburg in Maricopa County. Byproducts from mining may also include precious and base metals, strategic minerals, and rare-earth elements.

If approved, Rattler Resources, LLC, would be authorized to surface mine gold-bearing gravels from placer deposits across approximately 95 acres and process the ore on site. The project is expected to last for 7 to 10 years, although economic factors and discovery of additional ore could extend mining operations.

Additional information is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option. Comments may also be delivered to: BLM Hassayampa Field Office, attn: Tim Demko, 2020 E. Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85022. The comment period will close March 30, 2025.

For additional information, please contact geologist Tim Demko at tdemko@blm.gov or 602-867-5400.
