BLM seeks comments on oil and gas lease parcels

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on eight parcels located in Phillips, Toole, Liberty, Choteau, Hill, Glacier, Valley, Bighorn and Sheridan counties in Montana that are being offered for oil and gas leasing, for a 30-day comment period ending June 14, 2016.The environmental assessment for this sale considers the potential effects of leasing approximately 20,086.18 acres of publicly-nominated federal minerals. Parcel information can be found on ePlanning at the links below:- Information on the parcels located in Bighorn and Rosebud counties is at http://1.usa.gov/1TGaa1l.- Information on parcels in Phillips, Toole, Liberty, Choteau, Hill, Glacier and Valley counties is at http://1.usa.gov/1Vx4mvM.The BLM deferred 140 parcels that had been nominated for the sale, but that were within greater sage-grouse habitat pending implementation guidance on the 2015 approved HiLine, Billings and Miles City Resource Management Plans.Upon review and consideration of public comments, the NEPA documents for this sale will be updated as needed. Prior to issuing any leases, the decision record will be finalized and posted for public review on the BLM Montana/Dakotas website.The lease sale is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 18, 2016.
