BLM Seeks Comment on Environmental Assessment for May 2014 Oil and Gas Lease Sale

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Color Country and Canyon Country Districts are now seeking public comment on environmental assessments (EA) analyzing the BLM's proposal to offer 113 parcels covering 132,109 acres at the May 2014 oil and gas lease sale. The EA for the Canyon Country District analyzed 50 parcels covering 44,478 acres, and the EA for the Color Country District analyzed 63 parcels covering 87,631 acres.Additional information about the proposed parcels is included in the EAs, which are now available for public review and comment. Electronic copies of the EAs can be found on the Environmental Notification Bulletin Board. To review the Canyon Country District EA, search for "Oil and Gas Lease Sale" under project name and select "Monticello Field Office" from the field office drop down menu. To review the Color Country District EA, search for "Oil and Gas Lease Sale" under project name and select "Richfield Field Office" from the field office drop down menu.Hard copies of both the Canyon Country District EA and the Color Country District EA can be obtained in person at the BLM Utah State Office, 440 West 200 South, Suite 500, Salt Lake City. Hard copies of the Canyon Country District EA can be obtained at the BLM Monticello Field Office, 365 North Main Street, Monticello and hard copies of the Color Country District EA can be obtained at the BLM Richfield Field Office, 150 East 900 North, Richfield.The public review and comment period closes at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, 2014. Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action or contain new technical or scientific information. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response, but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.
