MARINA, Calif. -  Effective Oct 15, the Bureau of Land Management is rescinding fire restrictions on public lands managed by the Central Coast Field Office.

Due to cooler temperature and seasonal changes, the fire threat has diminished in the area. However, the public is asked to be extremely careful and vigilant with campfires and target shooting, carry a shovel and water at all times, and remember "One Less Spark is One Less Wildfire".

The BLM advises homeowners to "Take Responsibility" and keep 100 feet of clean, open space around their homes to provide defensible space and improve the chance that their homes and families can be saved in an uncontrolled wildfire.

The Central Coast Field Office manages approximately 284,000 acres of public land in Central California predominately in Fresno, San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.
