ARCATA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management reopened the Wailaki and Nadelos campgrounds in the King Range National Conservation Area, after crews removed trees that were damaged in winter and spring storms.

The Wailaki Campground provides 13 campsites, and the Nadelos Campground provides eight campsites. All are first-come, first-served, with no reservation accepted.

Other developed campgrounds in the King Range NCA include the Tolkan Campground, a nine-site area that offers excellent access to the Paradise Royale mountain bike trails, and the Mattole Campground, offering 14 sites near the beach at the north end of the King Range near the community of Petrolia. The fee is $8 per night at these facilities.

The King Range NCA is also open to overnight backpacking. Permits are required for overnight use within the King Range Wilderness. Visitors can book their permit reservations on www.recreation.gov.
Permits are not required for day-use, or the campgrounds listed above.
