The Bureau of Land Management announced today that it will move its Eastern States office in Springfield, VA to 20 M Street, SE, Washington, DC. The current Bureau of Land Management Eastern States (BLM ES) office at 7450 Boston Blvd in Springfield will be closed beginning January 14, 2015 and will reopen on January 20, 2015 at 20 M Street, SE, Washington, DC. The BLM ES States Public Room will be closed on January 14, 2015 and will reopen to visitors on January 23, 2015 at 20 M Street. From January 26, 2015 through March 2, 2015, some services and limited access to some records may be available to the public. With this move, the BLM ES will occupy a state-of-the-art energy efficient building and meet the General Services Administration (GSA) requirement that Federal offices inhabit Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified buildings. Additional cost savings will be accrued through the use of shared services and facilities with the BLM Washington Office which is already located at 20 M Street. The 20 M Street Building is located directly across from the Metro Navy Yard station on the Green Line. The building is also served by several Metro bus routes, as well as commuter buses that service the Navy Yard area.
