BLM Proposes to Sell 608.57 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 39 parcels, totaling 608.57 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period that will close February 22, 2016.
The sale parcels are located north and south of Blue Diamond Road between Hualapai Way and Interstate 15 in the southwest area of the Las Vegas Valley in Clark County and west of Interstate 15 between Keehn Avenue and Rettig Avenue south of Henderson and east of Las Vegas Boulevard.
The sale parcels are identified for disposal and have been analyzed through the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004. All resource issues have been identified and cleared. A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2015-0120-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004 EIS, and is available for public review and comment. The sale parcels lie within the approved disposal boundaries established in the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision dated October 5, 1998.
Sealed-bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check, bank draft, or postal money order made payable, in U.S. dollars, to Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management.
The parcels would be offered at not less than the fair market value (FMV) as determined by an appraisal. The sale by sealed bid and oral public auction will be held on April 26, 2016, at Clark County Government Center, Clark County Commission Chambers, 500 South Grand Central Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada, NV 89155 at 10 a.m., Pacific Time. The FMV for the parcels will be announced in the local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale.
In accordance with the SNPLMA, the funds generated by this sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and Landscape restoration projects. Additionally, five percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
