BLM Proposes to Sell 597.59 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 29 parcels, totaling 597.59 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The proposed competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period that will close March 23, 2015.
The sale parcels are identified for disposal and have been analyzed through the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004. All resource issues have been identified and cleared. A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2014-0135-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004 EIS, and is available for public review and comment. The sale parcels lie within the approved disposal boundaries established in the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision on October 5, 1998.
Sealed-bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check or U.S. postal money order made payable, in U.S. dollars, to Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management.
The parcels will be offered at not less than the fair market value as determined by an appraisal. The fair market value for the parcels, the period to submit sealed-bids, and the sale date will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale.
In accordance with SNPLMA, the funds generated by this sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and landscape restoration projects.
