BLM Proposes to Sell 516.18 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 40 parcels, totaling 516.18 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The proposed competitive sale will be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in today’s Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period which will close September 26.
The sale parcels identified for disposal were analyzed in the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004. A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2014-0052-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004 EIS, is available for public review. The sale parcels lie within the approved disposal boundaries established in the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and the Record of Decision on October 5, 1998.
Sealed bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check or postal money order made payable, in U.S. dollars, to Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management.
The parcels will be offered at not less than their fair market value as determined by an appraisal. The sale by sealed bid and oral public auction will be held on December 2, 2014, at the City of North Las Vegas, 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North, Council Chambers, North Las Vegas, Nevada 89030 at 10 a.m., Pacific Time. The fair market value for the parcels will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale.
In accordance with SNPLMA, the funds generated by this sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and landscape restoration projects. Additionally, 5 percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
