BLM Proposes to Sell 120 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 12 parcels, totaling 120 acres of public land in Clark County, Nevada. The proposed competitive sale, to be held May 22, 2014, would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in the January 29, 2014, Federal Register opens a 45-day comment period that will close March 17, 2014.
The 12 parcels are located in two general areas in the southwest Las Vegas Valley: Gomer Road, Rainbow Boulevard, Jones Boulevard, Pyle Avenue, Decatur Boulevard, and Cactus Road; and Bermuda Road, Gillespie Street, and Starr Hills Avenue.
The parcels would be offered at not less than the fair market value. The fair market value for the parcels will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale. Sealed bids will be accepted from May 12, 2014, to May 19, 2014, and will be opened at the sale prior to oral bidding.
Sealed-bids must include a deposit of at least 20 percent of the bid amount and a bid guarantee deposit of $10,000 in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check or U.S. postal money order made payable, in U.S. dollars, to Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management.
In accordance with the SNPLMA, the funds generated by this proposed sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and landscape restoration projects. Additionally, 5 percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
The sale parcels are identified for disposal and have been analyzed through the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004. All resource issues have been identified and cleared. A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2013-0171-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004 EIS, is available for public review and comment. The sale parcels lie within the approved disposal boundaries established in the Las Vegas Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision on October 5, 1998.
